The Photographer - Bio

Ed Streit has been taking pictures nearly his whole life. He began as a child, photographing family and pets with his Kodak Brownie. Joining the Camera Club in high school, he found landscapes uninteresting, and began a lifelong passion for photographing people. While still in high school he landed a part-time job in a professional portrait studio, providing a rare and wonderful introduction to the business of photography.

In developing his own unique portrait style, Ed has drawn inspiration from Richard Avedon’s plain backgrounds and Annie Leibovitz’s ability to capture compelling moments. “I strive to showcase people as they are, devoid of visual distractions,” he says. “I want their personalities to engage the viewer, and their portraits to captivate future generations of viewers.”

Ed promotes his business by participating in community activities. “Photography is a business largely shaped by local community involvement and the people you meet,” he says. “Watch for me taking pictures at your next community event. I hope we’ll have a chance to get acquainted.”

“Ed is perfect for those of us who don't like having our picture taken. It was the best photo session we ever had, and the pictures turned out even better than expected!"
